An important aspect is how negative impacts on the environment during production, transportation, packaging, usage and by the end of the product lifecycle to a minimum can be reduced. Also, every effort is made to reduce emissions of CO2 as far as current technology and the market allows.
Hans Boodt mannequins uses the "Cradle to Cradle" principle within its two main production methods, namely, rotational molding and fiberglass reinforced with polyester resin.
This principle looks at the entire lifecycle of the product, including packing and shipping. At the end of the product lifecycle as much as possible of the old product is recycled, the recycled product is then used as building material for new products. Preferably this is done with minimal quality loss. This principle is also used with glass. In addition, some waste is separated and used as compost. The final solution is that waste is burned to generate electricity, this electricity can be used for the production of new products.
The thermoplastic materials like polyethylene are easy to recycle and therefore can be used as raw material. To a lesser degree, this is also the case for thermosets such as polyurethane and polyester. It is true that these products are very easy to process in the standard waste processes. Fiberglass mannequins can therefore be regarded as other wastes.
